Tips for the Matia Mahal food lanes
- Evening is peak time. Qureshi and Al Yamin open in the afternoon or evening, and the lanes are liveliest after sunset.
- Mostly non-veg. Vegetarians will find more choice at Al Yamin (kadai paneer) than at the kebab corners.
- Respect the mosque. The lanes face an active mosque; dress modestly and keep noise down near the gates, especially at prayer times. See the Jama Masjid visitor guide.
- Finish with dessert at Cool Point (shahi tukda) or Kallan Sweets in the Matia Mahal bazaar, both listed by Delhi Tourism, or with a rooftop view at Gumbad Cafe.
